Does anyone else here feel that Sarah Palin is being made a scape goat?

Many within the GOP are blaming her for McCain's loss. Now personally I hate the woman like poison. Her ideals and beliefs are the polar opposite of mine.

However, I like to think I am fair minded enough, and politically astute enough to recognise talent when I see it.

And Sarah palin is the closest thing to talent the GOP has seen in a long time.

Before her appearance on the campaign trail McCain's rallies were like sleep clinics. She energized an entire section of the electorate. She compelled the attention of the world...ok it was mostly adverse attention but they were talking about her.

Are these rumors coming from McCain? Is he talking from both sides of his mouth about Sarah...

just as he did about Obama during the campaign?

It seems to me he gets this role of the moderate, reasonable one who is fair minded and well intentioned....and others around him unleash the invective, rumor and innuendo. But he is always left alone.

Why is no one attacking HIM for all the gaffes HE made? For the times he lost his temper, forgot what he was saying, forgot his opponents name (that one!) ??

It was McCain who was running for President.

Why won't they admit it was McCain who lost?

Update:

BTW...not pretending to be American. Not a "Brit" either. I live in Australia half the year and have been doing so for 15 years....as I was married to an Aussie and have two kids with him. And the spelling creeps in. I work as a freelance journalist here. They are VERY fussy about not using American spelling!!

But it's good to see the Cons are better educated than they used to be.

well, some of you!!!

Update 2:

Canctu...I would say that both Bush II and Reagan qualify as "Ultra-Right Evangelicals"...so there is a precedent.

I think the Left have made the fatal error of underestimating the opposition with Sarah.

She may not be book learnin' smart...but she is a hell of an operator. You don't come that far, that fast in politics in the US by being gullible, incapable or compassionate.

The woman is a clear and present danger to the Liberal agenda and we need to begin appreciating her abilities or she will ambush us...... and we'll all end up holding our proverbial genitals looking surprized!!

She has caught the imaginations of a large sector of the American public. All of whom are eligible to vote.

Those who scoff at their enemies are often routed by them. Let's just remember that!!

Update 3:

@@EDIT: Kitty I think they sey her up to be the scapegoat too...I just don't think she was responsible for the loss. I think McCain was so palpably unfit for the position that no one wanted to vote for him bar the ones who DISD'T want a suntanned civil libertarian in Office.

But I think Palin avtually gained them as many votes as she lost. And I think many who voted for her don't ususally vote.

Just as many who voted for Obama don't usually vote.

Now we may have more of a horse race in the future..with better handlers and better prepartion...sghe will be a force to be reckoned with.

Because those supporters are sect-like in their devotion to her. And there are MILLLIONS of untra right evangelicals in this country. And they will ALL support her.

Then she gets the racists, the anti-Reds and the stupid women who think that voting for a girl makes them feminists.

That's a big base!!

Palin was not THE main problem for McCain, but she certainly aided in sinking the Republican ship this year. Several factors contributed to the demise of the McCain campaign besides the choice of Palin as VP. McCain strayed from his own "maverick" principles by resorting to "politics as usual," Rovian style negativity and character assassination, and making numerous missteps along the way, such as putting his own candidacy on the line with the failure of the initial bailout plan right after the market crash.

By admitting that McCain, himself, was responsible for his own failure, hard-nosed conservatives will also have to admit that they not only made the wrong choice for president but also that they simply lost in the battle of ideas, which is what these ardent uber-conservatives will simply not do. In their minds, they are "always right" and everyone else is simply wrong.

Self-righteousness before self-improvement: that is the Republican way.

Well, that was pretty childish question and dribble. Is she a scapegoat of an "anonymous" personality? I always trust that kind of information, don't you? Personally, I go for facts. By the way, "totem" pole is the way it is spelled. Fox wasn't turning against her.. and read up on the media bias concerning the candidates. It is quite evident what was going on. We'll see how hard you are laughing in a few months. We'll see how fast that halo that was placed on Obama's head falls to the ground and completely disappears. We'll even laugh when you find out that you fell for his diatribe... hook, line, and sinker. Then we'll see what really stinks. We'll be waiting because that first mistake is going to be a real b#@# ! I doubt that you'll ever make it to be governor of a state, so I find it quite interesting that you are making fun of some person whose background you don't even know. Especially since Sarah has more experience than that one you didn't investigate; therefore your laughter falls flat.

Thus Republicans who supported McCain staunchly cannot admit that he is the real culprit behind the loss. The reason is because if they do then they must also admit that he was the wrong candidate and did not really represent the party's supposed values. This in turn would lead them to a necessity to do some real soul searching and a scrubbing of the party. In short, if they admit that McCain was the reason then they must admit that they were backing the wrong horse. It is just not going to happen. They will continue to blame Palin and a few other factors instead. I voted third party this year because I could not in good conscious vote for John McCain based on his history and previous positions.

John McCain never intended to take office and Sarah Palin was his unsuspecting and used puppet. Her party's defeat ultimately speaks to religious zealots, who now say that Barack is the anti-Christ. McCain's hate filled campaign fueled already existent racial tension. Either he was a complete, and I do mean, complete idiot for the way he ran his campaign OR he never intended to become President. Something tells me that he's a little too smart for it to have been idiocy. After all is said and done, the end result? Chaos and a LOT of it. Ever hear of elite secret societies? All the finger pointing at Sarah, is to deflect the idea from entering into people's minds that John McCain never intended to take office. John McCain is a scumbag and he and his elite secret society cronies have set the stage of end times. You people have to look past the surface and until you do, these scumbags laugh at you. Do you honestly believe that they do not control what you see and when you see it? You have to ask the probable questions and live your life suspecting the worse, so that you are able to preconceive and understand the strategies that are truly at play and against you. It's like playing chess. The intelligence these rats possess, believe me, is understanding how the human brain works and the powers of suggestion. You will never understand your reality until you allow yourself to think like an evil man. When you finally do, you will not only understand what is happening around you and before you, you will be able to PREDICT their moves.

John McCain picked a fine time to be 'kind' during his concession speech, don't you think? After all that hate? Pffftt! Although he stated that it was his fault, he never apologized. This suggestion, in itself, would cause his supporters to go on being loyal to him long afterward. If you'll notice, the crowd went a little wild when he said that it was his fault. Imagine how that followed them well after the campaign and election was over. It fuels people...and elite secret societies KNOW how this type of sh*t works. You better believe they do! Chaos and confusion...the name of their game.

The Dems changed the Primary rules to allow themselves & Indies to vote for the Republican candidate. Their pick was McCain.

You are quite correct. McCain lost. That was his job.

But the old fart didn't know that. His pick of Palin, especially in light of Obama's snub of Hilliary was damn shrewd politics.

Palin energized McCain's campaign. The hatred from the Left should demonstrate how perfect she was for the Right.

Palin improved McCain's chances so much the Dems had to go to plan B, which was the October Surprise triggering of the economic meltdown, via RINO Henry Paulson.

Palin is being scapegoated by McCain & character assassinated by the Left.

And from this hard core conservative, you have the admission...

    ...McCain lost.

His eloquence was spent on the admission of defeat,

rather than the acquisition of victory.

McCain has had his fair share of attacks... and I think Palin just asks for some of her own. She is probably one of the nicest people, she was there to get the votes of women... and supossedly act as "eye candy" for men... but I'm not too sure about that one. But, it was her performance in her interviews that gave her a bad name. I think it scared a lot of people if McCain were to be elected president and died (probably 5 years later), PALIN would be our president! She just seems to lack the knowledge, which she could learn over time, but I think it is too late for her. Honestly, in my opinion, she was a major reason for why McCain lost - but before that, polls suggested that the economy is just ready for change, a Democratic leader possibly to make sure that this next administration does not look like Bush's. McCain did lose...but instead of just saying that, they want to find some sort of underlying reasoin for his loss...and that, at least to me would be his unorganized campaign, lack of money in the start, and Palin.

Well McCain actually manned up and took responsibility for what he said and said the race was lost because of him. (which isn't entirely true, but he was the bigger man and took responsibility)

Whereas Palin is still crying "sexist," saying that she only lost because she is a girl.

So McCain is semi-owning up for what he did. But Palin is still blaming anyone and anything in her path, as usual.

All the accusations regarding Sarah are made by underlings in the Republican party. It is a smear campaign to try and hold off a nomination for Republican candidate in 4 years.

They ran on the Karl Rove style of politics and I think the public has seen how well spewing hate and name calling have worked. I think they should have followed a better gameplan that included the issues rather than getting people worked up on non issues. What I have noticed is these people must have thick skin to take all the crap thrown at them. I have had enough politics to last me for a while.

Face it, she was a bad choice and no ultra-right wing Evangelical IS EVER going to get elected in America!

The GOP is so far right they are fascists! They exclude almost everyone, so why would anyone be surprised you lost your base?

Palin is a joke. She is facing another misuse of office charge and a tampering charge of bid rigging, sending $500,000 to do a feasibility study on that non-existent gas line to people that were connected inside her office! And to make matters worse, she gave it to the Canadians to help THEM get jobs when we have 10 MILLION in this country out of work and growing by the day!

I wish she would take a hike to that Island she has never been and actually see Russia. I don't know what she would do for water though as they don't have any running water, but she doesn't even know that.

$40,000 for underwear! Give me a break! I haven't spent that much on clothes in 40 years!

This woman who hates the media is doing her darnedest to get on every show in America! She is on Larry King tonight!
