    should not be a Sheltie. They should be "reserved towards strangers". This does not mean shy. They are not a "dominant" breed, but a very biddable breed. They can bark quite a bit! Once a week brushing does very nicely. Yes, very smart. No, they should not have any more tendancy to chase after smaller animals than any other dog.,.and in fact have less a tendancy than many other breeds. Over the 38 years of having them, they were not diggers.

    As to the breed you are referring to....I would think some type of terrier
