My rabbit has a sore butt, please help.?
Hello. I've had my rabbit for about 3 years now. She is spayed. She has recently had a sore butt, very red down there. I've began changing her litter daily instead of every other day and have been washing down there with warm water and anti-bacterial soap. It seems like it's going down, but it's still sore. She hasn't had any difference in her stool, she's still pooping pellets, no diarrhea and she also has not shown any signs of pain, in fact, she has been as playful as usual.
What can I do to help her sore butt? =(

Try some over-the-counter anti-biotic ointment.... It is generally safe to use on pets.... I use it on my animals all the time.

I would have a vet check her out- if there's been no diarrhea and the cage is clean, she likely has some sort of skin infection, as there would be no other reason for swelling and redness in that area.
Add: Over-the-counter antibiotic ointment is NOT safe to use on rabbits. One of the common antibiotics in the 'triple' ointments like Neosporin is actually toxic to rabbits, and nothing that is labeled 'for topical use only' should be applied to a rabbit unless given by your vet- they can lick their rears and will eat it.

First of all, don't wash it anymore. Also, how do you really know its sore? Don't worry about it, feed her some oatmeal and if it doesnt seem to get better, give her some pineapple juice, but if she isn't in pain, and shes still eating, there is no need to worry.
