What should I make for tea?

I've got sweet potatoes, pork steaks, parsnips, swede, carrots, mushrooms, courgette, and the usual cupboards full of stuff.

I have no idea what to make for dinner and I would like to try something new, any suggestions?

I'm assuming you're in Europe...maybe England? In America I'm not familiar with "swede" or "courgette." Could you explain those a little more and maybe I could come up with an idea for them?

Until then, how about smothered or oven-broiled (like a steak) pork steaks topped with mushrooms & sliced onions sautee'd in butter. And, cook your parsnips and carrots as usual...drain well...whip together until fluffy with a little butter, maybe a little cream and a little brown sugar or maple syrup or honey, and a sprinkling of some spice like a pumpkin pie or apple pie spice. Serve alongside the pork steaks with another pat of butter on top, like you would mashed potatoes or fluffy sweet potatoes. You could even sprinkle a few finely chopped pecans (or other favorite nut) on top.

Or, here is an interesting recipe using carrots, but I would imagine you could combine carrots & parsnips and get the same result. Would be worth a try.

    CARROT SOUFFLE

    1 1/2# carrots

1/2 c. margarine or butter, melted

    3 large eggs, beaten

    3 T. flour

    3/4 c. sugar

    1 tsp. baking powder

    1 t. vanilla

Scrape & chop carrots. Cook in salted water 'til done. Drain and puree' with mixer or blender. Beat eggs. Add rest of ingredients. Blend well into carrots. Spray a 1qt. casserole dish & pour carrot mix in it. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. Serve warm.

I look forward to hearing what your other ingredients are!

I had to look and see what a courgette was (we don't have them here)

I would make oven roasted veg's with grilled pork steak with mustard smeared on them - sounds wierd but very very good.
