atm question! depositing money?
I've never used an atm so I want to know exactly what goes down =P and i know you need an envelope to put your money in but cant it be any envelope or does it have to be a specific envelope from my bank?
I plan on depositing cash AND my paycheck so... will it be safe to put cash into an envelope?

Basically you stick your card in and complete the transaction...some atms will ask if you want an envelope. It is best to use that one if you can. On the outside of it (the envelope) it will ask you for your name and account number and how much you want to deposit into checking or savings. If you dont have one and you have a deposit slip it will be okay if you use a regular envelope. I would suggest that you NOT put cash or coins into it AND that you use your own bank's ATM for deposits. So for example if you bank at chase bank dont make a deposit into wells fargo bank (it might not let you anyway), but since you can make withdraws from any atm it is not unreasonable to think that it might....
Be sure to sign the back of the check and put your account number on it too and put FOR DEPOSIT ONLY on the check under your signature to make sure that it goes into your account..
Its is not hard at all and after you do it once youwill be a pro
Lastly, please know that ATM deposits might take abit to post to your account. If you deposit $500 buck into it on Friday after 2pm you might not see that money until Monday afternoon (dont be alarmed). There also might be a hold on out of state checks and that hold does not start until after they get the money so lets say you put an out of state check into the ATM on that same friday at 2pm you might not get to use that money until the following Wednesday. Keep this in mind if you check your accounts regularly.
Also do not use the atm deposits to cover overdrafts....if on friday you overdraw your account by 75 bucks and then put 100 buck into your account to cover it on that same friday....most banks (but I dont think credit unions do this) will process withdraws first and deposits second. Check your terms and conditions that were given to you when you signed up to be sure

The ATMs have the envelopes located in a draw in the machine. You need to use that envelope so that you include all information requested.
You cannot put coins in the envelope

usually its a specific envelope from your bank...I know that with bank of america, you dont need any envelope. Or you can just walk in the bank and have them do it for you.
