Brakes squeaking while stopping?

Whenever I push on the brake normally to stop, my brake squeak very loudly. Is this a sign to get them changed, or could something be on the pad?

Thanks.

It could be your pads going out....

Or it could be something simple. I have had this problem before, what had happened was a little rock was lodge in my break pad, cheap simple fix.

Either way any mechanic will be able to solve this for you and it shouldn't be too bad expensive.

Brake pads have what they call squeal indicators on them it is a small piece of metal attached to the brake pad so that when the brakes get to point of needing to be replaced the metal will contact the brake rotor and make a loud squeal. Go have your brakes checked at a garage they undoubtedly need to be replaced.

Your breaks are "contaminated" all you gotta do is get some break cleaner. Ask your auto store this happens often if you had dirty hands. Less likely it could be that your rotors are too used up. Also they squeak when they are worn out, but then again they are new arent they?

Its called a rattle plate and it is designed to make a racket so you know your brakes (disc) need new pads

the pads are held on by rivots, when the pads are worn away, the rivots make contact with the brake rotors. yes , your brakes are worn
