When to use a grunt call while hunting?

I hunt in northern alabama, the deer where i hunt are not as dominant and large as the ones in the northern states, i have seen bucks but i have never used any type of calls to bring them in or get there attention, im hoping someone can give me advice on using a call and if "blind calling" is a good idea

use a grunt call for getting a buck you already see to move into position for a shot. Your bucks may or may not be as large as some others but there are still dominant and submissive bucks within your herd. I do "blind call" but at the risk of educating deer I don't plan on killing
