yes, u can call anyone on verizon for free. not text though.
i've dropped mine at least a dozen times. not only that but i dropped it on the concrete in the pouring down rain, the battery and all came out. it sat there for like 5 minutes, in the rain, before i realized it, and it still works. my friend dropped hers in the toilet and it still works too.
so i'd say it stands up pretty good to drops and water.

It's a good phone i had it. Yes verizon to verizon is free and if you drop it it will be fine
