Why do girls hate video games?

Not all girls hate video games. Let's not generalize here.

But I'm not a huge fan because I could do much better things with my time.

It is violent.

Video games are senseless.

Quality time is taken away when the boyfriend rather stare 15 hours straight at the TV screen playing Metal Gear than spend time with her.

They are not interacting with real people.

It's more a guy's interest than girls.

It looks difficult to play.

This is what some girls think of video games. However I have been playing video games since the late 80s as a kid, so not all females hate it.

I like video games. You shouldn't do a paper on just one side of the argument and ignore the other part of girls who DO like video games. That sends completely the wrong message. You might as well write a paper on why 45 year old men hate broccoli. Makes no sense except for the fact that your leaning completely on a stereotype.

I like things in moderation. I don't think its just girls, I know a lot of guys who don't waste their time playing video games, too. The reason that girls may hate video games:

1. it is a "lazy" thing to do

2. I get a headache from staring at graphics

3. The coolest games (racing, grand theft auto, mortal kombat, gears of war, call of duty, halo, etc) are geared towards guys. Actually, I'd say most every game is! (I never really thought about this before..)

4. I feel like my time is being wasted

6. I suck at them

that's a tad bit of a generalization.

I in one like some video games and hate some others i dont think what type of sex i am has to effect whether i like video games or not

Wow, I'm a girl and I love video games. I was addicted to GTA4 for like a year!! I don't know why some hate them, they probably have better things to do with their time, like their hair and nails and crap, I don't know. They hate them because they suck at them.

*Stupid for a girl to sit around all day playing a game that is totally pointless.

*Playing against a computer! & not a real person.

well i say,

its because video games are a useless waste of time,

and most of them are stupid anyway,

oh its SO fun to drive fake cars against fake people yay!

NOT! and those fighting games,

like my brother has this war one,

my lord, its very graphic! ew!

and loud! and lets just say video games suit mostly guy interests,

i mean cars, sports, and shooting things,

there you have it.
