Is there a program to identify text from scanned documents???

so that i can scan a document and then use Microsoft Word to change it any way i want.

    Is it called Optical Character Recognition software (or OCR). Usually you will get an OCR software as part of the purchase of a decent scanner. (Usually not with an all-in-one that combines printer/copier/scanner.)

    Note that for an OCR to work, the text needs to be in a common font, and a single column. If you attempt to scan something with pictures in it, the program will try to find "letters" in the picture and give you garbage. If the page as two columns, it will read across both columns as a single line of text.

    Yes. What you are looking for is OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. Most scanners come with some form of OCR software.
