lip gloss or lip stick?

Hi,

was just wondering - do you need to put lipstick on and then lip gloss or can you put one or the other one?

Also, which is better, lip gloss or lip stick?

Well normally lipstick isn't too shiny, so if you want a glossy finish, then put some lip gloss over your lipstick. Lip gloss is cool because they have tints so it can look like you're wearing both lipstick and gloss.

I prefer just regular lip balm, but if I had to choose I would go with gloss.

There is no specific way that someone has to wear a lip product, because it all depends on the look you are going for.

Either way, you should start with something that will moisturize your lips, like chapstick or carmex or any other lip balm. It will make your lips smoother and help the gloss or lip stick last longer (make sure it is a clear balm though, or it will alter the color of your other lip product.)

What you do next depends on what you want your lips to look like.

For just a hint of matte color, dot lipstick in the middle of both your upper and lower lip, then use your finger to spread the color. Using your finger gives lipstick a very casual look, and this will add color to your face without overpowering (this is a good idea to use if you are doing dramatic eyes, because it won't take away from the eye makeup).

For a very polished and professional lip, outline your lips in a neutral liner then use a lip brush to paint on lipstick. This is good for events, important meetings, or when taking portraits or other important photos. They streamline your makeup and it is a very classy look. (It is also good for photos because it will not reflect too much light like lip gloss will, distracting from your overall face in the picture.) To add a little pizazz to this lip, dot a very small amount of clear lip gloss just in the center of your bottom lip. This makes your lips look full and adds dimension without being to flashy.

One last lip stick tip is if you want your color to last for hours, layer translucent powder (the kind that you would use to set your foundation on your face) in between two or three applications. Your color will stay strong while staying put for all day and night :D

Lip gloss can be swiped on anytime (but, again, make sure you moisturize first, lip gloss has a tendency to dry out your lips). They can add sparkle or shine, depending on the product, and can go over plain lips or over full lip stick. It is a good idea, however, to put lip gloss on LAST, no matter what you are doing with your lip look.

A clear or very light pink lip gloss works best over lip stick or when going for a casual look. Darker lip glosses are more dramatic, while pinks are more fun. Crazier colors (purples, oranges) work well for themed events or costumes.

Lip gloss application looks best when you start in the middle of the lips and work outwards. Lots of lip gloss in the corners gives a gooey, sticky look, which no one wants. If you stick to the center to the lips and move outwards, most of the product stays in the middle and makes your lips look fuller and supple.

    Good luck!

Lip Gloss since it doesn't smear as much, and get on your teeth!

I also find lipstick to be more expensive and there isn't as much variety as lip gloss. But if your talking about which to apply first, It's always lipstick than the lip gloss on top for shine ;)

Both. Sometimes lip gloss is better, like when you're in a hurry you can just quickly put some on without worrying about it getting on your teeth, lipstick is better if you want your lips to stand out, or be more shapely.

You could do your favorite lipstick then a clear gloss over it. I love lip gloss, with so many colors now you would be surprised. I never was much of a lipstick kinda of gal!

Lipstick is better for color. Except for KLS lip gloss. That is the best colored lip gloss for even spreading. Try putting on Burt's bees lip balm, then lipstick, a dab of lip gloss in the center of your lips and then pursing them together.

You can do whatever you want to. If you like the lipstick color but want it glossy than put a clear coat of gloss on top of your lipstick. You don't have to though. I would suggest putting on chap stick like 10 minutes before you put on lipstick even if you think your lips are not chapped. It makes your lips have more moisture and allows the lipstick to stay on longer. For me, it depends on where im going. If I'm going to hang out with my friends i will put on lip gloss. If I'm going to a wedding i will put on lipstick.

    HeyHeyHey xD.

Personally, I Think LipGloss Is Better For Me, But Thats Maybe Because I'm 13 And Still Young, When People Get Older, They Seem To Pefer LipStick, But Thats What I Think :].

I Wouldn't Say Which One Is Better For You, I Guess It's Just Which One YOU Pefer, Fiddle Around With Different LipGlosses And LipSticks, I'm Sure You'll Find One, Which Looks Good, And What You Like. I Hope This Helps, Good Luck xD.
