How is it that Pedroia of the Red Sox's wins the MVP and Derek Jeter hasn't won one yet?
Hear me out Red Sox's fans. Pedroia had a .326 avg, 17 hr, and 83 rbis and no world series title, yet Jeter in 1998 had a .324 avg, 19 hrs, 84 rbis and a world series. Also in 1999 .349 avg, 24 hrs, 102 rbis, and a world series. Yet in both of these seasons no MVP. Are everyone still on the Red Sox's bandwagon?
When he won his ring he didn't win the MVP.

Pedroia carried the Red Sox alot this year and had no help from the likes of Varitek, Papi, Manny (while he was there) most of the season. And lowell was hurt. Jeter had plenty of help every year he had a chance to win the MVP and thats why he does not get the award. I understand Jeter put up similiar numbers but look at the runs each team scored that year and look at how much help Jeter got those years. For instance, Papi wuld be better off on vacation then what he did this postseason.

1. Postseason play does not matter. Ballots must be mailed before the first day of playoff action. This is true.
2. See #1 re: postseason influence being non-existent.
3. See #2.
4. In addition, postseason play is not considered.
5. What Jeter did in 2006 is irrelevant in 2008. MVP voting is hermetic to the season. Jeter's competition in 2006 was Morneau 2006, Ortiz 2006, Thomas 2006, Dye 2006, Santana 2006, not Pedroia 2008. Let us note that Jeter finished second (to Morneau) and it was a very close second (14 points behind).
6. There is no #6.
7. A reminder, postseason play DOES NOT MATTER for MVP voting. (REACHING the postseason, unfortunately, often does influence the voters -- but what actually happens in October does not.)

Pedro does have 1 ring in 2007, i look at it this way yes as A Jet er fan i think he deserved the Mvp in 2006, but it dint happened and i know Jet er is a team player would take the WS over MVP any day, and also Pedro won it simple as and deserved what can we do and Well what still gets me mad Jet er dint win it and some dint vote for him b/c he had other Yankees to help him
edit- OH okay got what you meant
edit2 - I think what your saying , oh this is my other problem is that yes Pedroia and Jeter play for a HIGH market team and Pedroia wins it , and Jeter being from a High market team didnt , is that what your trying to say

If Jeter batted cleanup like Morneau did in 2006, he would have put up monster numbers. Instead of letting AROD rot to waste there in the cleanup spot failing time after time with runners in scoring position, if Jeter were in that spot, hell yea, he would have 150+ RBIS.
There definitely is voter bias. In 2006, Jeter, best player on the team with the best record in the league, putting up monster numbers in the #2 spot, far superior to what Pedroia put up this year, got beat out .... All because he is a NEW YORK YANKEE :(

Jeter is the most overrated player in baseball. I just thought i'd note that for the record.
To answer your question pedroia shouldn't have won it with his resume basically consisting of only a.326BA and over 200 hits. MVPs are usually guys with power numbers which is the main reason jeter hasn't won one.

I don't know what is is about Jeter but for some reason he's not liked. This yr he was voted most overrated player in MLB.I really thought it was because he played for the yankee's but that can't be because Arod won twice with the yankees.I really don't know what the problem is with the voters when it comes to Jeter.

Pedroia - MVP
Jeter - Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Minka Kelly, Joanne Campbell, Adriana Lima, and every other hot piece of tail that walks into NYC.
Advantage: Jeter

is it not enough to have world series rings and millions of dollars?
