Is The Las Vegas Strip Walkable? ?

I will be going to Vegas for the first time and staying at the venetian in december....my question is do you think I will need to take a taxi/shuttle/bus to go down the strip to MGM or Mandalay Bay and stuff south on the strip or is it easy to walk?

I'm a 21 year old guy so I don't have any problems walking or whatever but I was wondering if it was too long or something to walk even for someone without problems

Everyone should walk it at least once .. just to get an idea how big it is. It does seem like everything is so close until you actually start walking it. It will take an hour or longer to walk that area. One problem is the pedestrian overpasses. No direct easy way to get from corner to corner but a whole lot safer than trying to cross the intersections. Do not plan on being somewhere at a certain time if you are walking ... if you do give yourself a lot of extra time.

IMO, you're going to find the $5 you spend for a 24 hour pass on the Deuce(strip bus) is the best $$ you spend all weekend.

Not in my opinion. It's about 2.5 miles on a crowded sidewalk with pedestrian overpasses and crosswalks along the way.

You're going to get plenty of walking in Las Vegas, you don't need to go out of your way to find it. So unless you're a Marine or a mailman and used to walking 20 miles a day, I would take the bus whenever possible, if for no other reason than to save time and your feet**.

**If you plan to walk that much, you had better plan for blisters as well.

Why waste your time trudging up and down the strip when you could be doing something interesting.

The entire strip, from Mandalay Bay to Stratosphere, is about 4miles. From the Venetian to Mandalay Bay is about 2 miles. So, depending on how much you want to walk, you may or may not want to walk that amount. Taking a cab for that short distance, if that is what you choose to do, will cost about $10.

    Good luck & have fun!

You can walk it but it's quite a hike, in my opinion. However, by the time we park at MGM and walk back to the strip it seems like we walked from The Venetian.

You're young enough to hoof it down the street, but bear in mind it's quite a walk from the Venetian to the MGM. I'd take a cab.

Hop on the bus and you will get to see the strip faster than walking. Also take a trip on the monorail, it runs behind the hotels and casinos and what a view. Have fun

Yes, you certainly can walk it.. I've done it on a number of occasions... it takes about 2 hours to walk from downtown Casino Center out to the end of the strip... if you are a fast walker and don't weave in and out of the casino's on the way.

It's totally walkable. You just have to deal with large crowds who don't always walk at a decent pace.

Just remember this: you know that printing on your passenger sideview mirror on your car? Y'know, the "objects in mirror are closer than they appear"? Well, Vegas should have this one: "Places you see aren't as close as they appear!" Something that looks close may not actually be.

You will be able to walk the entire strip with out a cab.

There pretty close to each other but the casinos are large.

by the end of the day you will be tired.

    Have fun and GOOD LUCK.

    Yeah, totally!

The major hotels are side-by-side, there's no need for a cab. I walked there 2 whole days without a problem...it's a very touristy place, doubt you will have any problem in a broad day light...
