Love 311. One of my favorite bands and one of the rare users who would place them in their top 10.
Seen them 4 times live, all amazing shows.
Blend all styles of music without ever really receiving proper credit.
Favorite album: Grassroots
Out of every single studio album they made, I was only disappointed with From Chaos, which included the singles "Amber" and "I'll Be Here Awhile".
Music was a great album and arguably their funkiest.
Grassroots, poor production, but a great album.
Everyone knows the classic 311 album.
Loved Transistor. Such a great feel, very atmospheric.
From Chaos, see above.
Evolver...produced one of their greatest songs "Beyond The Grey Sky".
Don't Tread On Me...usual strong effort.
Never gets credit for the amazing live act they are.
Also, when do they ever get any credit as musicians?
I think Chad Sexton is one of the greatest Drummers in Rock music.
P-Nut? Dude kills the Bass.
Tim Mahoney...has that John Frusciante quality about him. Borderline makes you cry with his melody and style. His solos (which are rare) are always on point.
They are also extremely dedicated to their fan base.
Amazing band, thanks for asking this Q.
Edit: Oh I forgot, check out Omaha Sessions if you haven't already. It predates SA Martinez. It's interesting to hear the band before he joined up, but it's a great record nonetheless.

My favorite band! All around great musicians. I love their infusions of rock/reggae/metal. Chad kills the drums (mainly the snare), P-Nut plays those deep lines, Nick has that smooth voice with SA adding some rhymes, then Tim coming in with those sweet, intricate riffs.

Aw I love them!
I was supposed to see them on March 21st but I had already bought tickets to see the Foo Fighters on the 22nd.. so I was kind of mad, my friends went they said 311 was fantastic.
Their older stuff is great.. aside from me playing their CDs, I hear them occasionally at stores in the mall!

their best days are behind them. they have rock rap feel at times, can sound a little heavy, and work in some funk. They never have really done it for me ,but I do like"Down" not a joint.
