what do you all think about that kid who killed himself on web cam?

I think all death is horrible and suicide is a terrible thing that someone would feel that badly to do it. BUT saying that the people watching should have know is a bit wrong. I have become so immune to the drama on some web sites I don't know if even I would know it it was true or just more drama...and they say he had done this before. So terrible but I don't think the internet or the site or the people should be blamed. They need to look into his life nad learn to help people.

What do you guys think?

Being a picky adult I should point out the he did not kill himself on the web cam but allowed his web cam to broadcast what he was doing. What I find quite horrifying about this (and this is not the first time this has happened) is that others who where viewing his web cam jeered him and egged him on. As has also happened in other cases. The problem, it seems to me is that there are so many Walter Mitty types out there who assume that, just because they make up outrageous stories to goad people, that everyone else does too.

You make the point that you have become immune to the drama of some web sites that you would not know if it was true or just more drama. Personally, on the only occasion I came across something like that me and several others did our best to ensure that the person concerned was not just 'spinning a yarn'. On that occasion he was - just to seek attention (just like the Walter Mitty types). However, I would never assume in that sort of scenario that someone is joking and I hope that those online contacts who goaded him and said things like 'yeah, go on the do it then' now have a guilty conscience. Instead of helping they, unwittingly or not played an active role in his death. Ignorance is not an excuse.

So Sad. I just posted condolences on his myspace this morning. I agree. It's so hard to tell real from fake on the internet. No one could have known if he had meds or smarties candy in his hand. It is so sad. So so sad. Sometimes life is so hard for me but considering how many things could be wrong (there is always someone worse off than you) and how many random ways life can end, I would never think to end my own life. Crappy as it is sometimes, its precious in so many other ways.

Most people like him would demonstrate that trick only once, but instant replay...what the ???

On the flip side, people are profoundly attracted to death...

I agree no one could stop him no matter if any one had posted anything to try .

Only the people who knew him could of helped.

    It's certainly a worrying trend.
