because its a way to represent the youth in soccer/football..and some organizations like McDonalds(lol) have a contest between kids so they can have the chance to come out into the field with their favorite team, player etc.

Marketing. you see it because it creates a grass roots life long audience. it started with the overseas leagues and makes perfect snese. its the same concept as letting Mighty might US football teams play at halftime of NFL games.

its like a support thing...im not really sure either but it has nothing to do with charity.....its somthing part of the club...but its not their children
