I would start by going back and asking these same questions of your teacher from last year.

Other than that, go on line and look at the colleges in your area for the requirements for being a teacher in general, a science teacher, and then an earth science teacher. By looking at the college course requirements, you will know what types of things you will need to learn and take from now through high school.

In the mean time, bring out your course work, notes, and any papers you have from last year. Use your last year's work to help guide you towards topics you could/should read up on using books from the library and/or from internet sites. The more you learn about the subjects in general, the more you will know. - And, guess what, the easier all of your future classes will be.

Also, you will need and/or should have a fair amount of math. Take as much math as you can. You might even see if there are some self study math books you can handle at one of the major book stores. Or, if dollars are a problem, look for any type of a used math book that contains the answers in the back at thrift stores and garage sales.

Reality is, you will need some ancillary courses as well. Any type of science student needs to be able to write reports. Teachers need writing skills all the more. Even if your emphasis is in earth sciences, you will undoubtedly need some chemistry, physics, geology, and more. What ever you can take of these courses in junior and senior high will help out when you go to college. Even so, see what you can find in these subjects at your local library. - Do not be afraid to check out the "little kids" sections on these subjects; ask the reference librarian, you'll find them among the regular non-fiction sections. The books for little kids are great for teaching concepts, demonstrating experiments, and more. If you can get the concepts down well so that you honestly understand the subject, any course work will be all the easier. Lastly, you might check out some general teaching books that teach people to teach, either in the subject of earth sciences or just in teaching in general. Again, your local library is likely to be a good source. Even if all you do is wander up and down the aisles, look at titles, and maybe pull out a book or two, you will gain an understanding of what resources exist. - And that is a good thing.

In the end, even if you decide not to become a education major with an earth sciences concentration, what you learn will still be valuable. Even to be a business major takes a fair amount of math any more. Certainly to run a business, knowing some statistics and how to use them can mean quite a bit of difference in terms of profits. And, as evnvironmental issues become more and more important across all of the disciplines, what you learn in terms of earth sciences will only help you. Just in your daily, non-work life, what you learn in earth sciences will be beneficial.

She/He has to show what the books approve of, and if she taught approximately youthful Earth Creationism she could ought to realize this from a non-biased element, and counter it with yet another concept. My instructor (when I went to college in Glasgow) exchange right into a youthful Earth Creationist, and she or he taught us approximately it. yet she additionally taught us approximately human beings's perspectives on how the earth exchange into created, and then approximately evolution.
