    The iodine stains the cells, especially the nuclei of the cells and makes them more visible.

    Iodine stains parts of the cell which makes them easier to see. I think it makes the nucleus more visible.

    So nothing moves underneath it. The water sort of sucks down the cover slide and helps it to stay in place.
