Is electric cheaper through the night ?
Do you have to use a separate socket, like the ones storage heaters use to get cheaper electris at night, or is it cheaper through normal sockets?

To get the cheaper night time rate you will need to have a special meter installed by the electricity supplier.
It will automatically switch over to night or day rate at the time set by the supplier. The supplier's times may vary slightly but usually around 12.30 am and 7.30 am in winter, or 1.30 am and 8.30 am in summer.

You need a special meter - they used to call it Economy 7. Then you have two tariffs one of which is much cheaper after 10pm. You don't have different sockets.

Only if your electric company offers off peak rates. Contact them. Most do not offer this to residential customers and those that do may require that you pay for the upgrade to your meter. My parents participated in a pilot program in the 1970's in Ca. It did not catch on and the program was dropped. People just didn't change their habits enough.
