Does a Root Canal Hurt? Root Canal or Extraction?
I have had 2 previous extractions because I was scared to get a root canal. I need another one and Im thinking of just having the tooth pulled. What are your thoughts. Is the back bottom tooth on the right side.
Thanks, the 2 extractions I had didnt hurt. Im scared that the root canel will be days of unbearable pain.

I have assisted dentists in many root canals. The patient is not in any pain what so ever. And if for some reason the patient does feel something we would stop what we were doing to numb it up a little more. I've never even seen a patient flinch during a root canal. Its just like having a cavity filled. Much much better than an extraction.

A root canal doesn't hurt anymore than getting a filling.
The pain associated with root canal is from the infection and decay that leads up to it, not the procedure itself.
I'd opt for the root canal over extraction. I've had several.

The more you keep having your teeth pulled, you will be left with no teeth. Besides, its just-if any temporary pain. If you decide to get it pulled, just make sure you still have teeth on the opposite sides of the extraction(s) that way you will be able to get a bridge if you desire in the future. This will be your third, dont wait till they get that bad, if you have a cavity...get it filled and you will have all your teeth.

are ya crazy? keep ur teeth .. ya it hurts but they give ya shots for that .. nothing like getting ur tooth pulled .. that hurts 100 times more than a root canal!! plus, its all over in a day and ur tooth being pulled takes weeks of taking care of it so u dont get a dry socket .. that will really really really hurt .. trust me!! be there done both ..

I would highly recommend you to visit Dentzz dental clinic. I had recently got my root canal treatment done over there and the experience was really nice. You cannot always opt for extractions, it is always better to completely treat your teeth. If you want to know or research about the Dentzz clinic, you can visit here: http://dentzz.blogspot.in/

Sure it hurts. But it isn't unbearable. It is always better to keep your own teeth if you can.
