bettas aggressive to guppies?

Will a male betta act aggressively to 5 male fancy guppies?

Depends on the individual Betta.
But Male guppies are a fish that is likely to be attacked by a betta. The long flowing fins trigger the attack response in the betta, and the guppy isn't fast enough to get away, or big enough to fight back.
Betta can be kept with other fish, but you have to choose them with care.

In my experience most bettas perceive a guppy as another male betta, however 60% of the time you might be able to get them to co exist all together. Most of the time they will stay at the top of the tank-for convenience of food.
The guppies are usually faster than the betta any ways and most (I repeat most) of the time will get tired of chasing. Female guppies will be fine.
You can try to put them together ,but do not be disappointed if you have to remove him from the tank.

Sometimes one male betta can be kept in a well planted tank with plenty of caves with other fish, but if the other fish have alot of color and flowing tails and fins, it will make the aggression come out in the male betta. It may not be the best idea unless he was going to be put with all females with less color and plain fins.

I wouldn't risk it unless you know the betta's temperment but it is not a good idea since guppies are known to be "show-offs" and they also have similar body shapes to bettas so the male betta may confuse the guppy with a smaller betta and he will certainly kill him so once agian not a good idea

it depends on how colorful the guppies are and the character of the betta. put the guppies first, and then the betta so the betta will be the new kid on the block
here are some other tank mates

Probably. My male fancy guppies kept dissappearing and I'm thinking my male betta was the problem.
He didn't chase them when I was watching tho.
