How come Hepatitis B is protozaon?

I know it's a viral dse. But can it be protozan also? Source please, thanks. 10 points immediately for the most helpful answer.

Update:

thanks to both of you unfortunately I really HAD to choose just one.

I knew it wasn't a protozoan infection and our CI was just fooling us. I'm like so mad right now. I don't want to believe whatever he says anymore and he is just so cocky.

Hepatitis B is not a protozoan , it is a DNA virus , belonging to hepadnaviridae family.

so the answer is no, it can not be a protozoan. A protozoan is technically a living organism that can have several hosts, with humans usually serve as intermediate hosts . They are single celled eukaryotes. While viruses like hep B virus are obligate intracellular microorganisms that MUST depend on the host cell metabolic machinery for their replication. Viruses can interfere with the host' cellular system ( that is , at the DNA level ), while protozoa do not.

Hepatitis is an inflammatory condition of the liver. It could be caused by viral or bacterial infections (hepatitis B being a viral cause), Parasitic infestation (E. histolytica or schistosomiasis), alcohol, drugs, toxins, etc. Hepatitis B is not a protozoan infection.
