If I compress to a .zip or .rar would I lose quality?

Of my video's or music? Even by a little I would like to know.

No, ZIP and RAR are lossless compression techniques.

However, you need to decompress before you can use them.

compressing a file into a .zip or .rar format uses an algorithim that is best utilized for text. If you compress a video, or audio file, you will find that the ZIP, or RAR file size is pretty much the same as before compression. I do not recommend doing it.

Using compression software is like packing your clothes into a suitcase. You still have the same shirts, but you can't wear them if they are crammed into your little suitcase.
