ipod and itunes not compatible, help please!?

ok so here is what happened

i am using a really crappy old PC, windows XP with a ipod nano second generation

what happened was my itunes (version 7.5) updated my ipod nano and now my itunes will not open my ipod because they are not compatible anymore, it says that i need to download something 7.6 or newer on my computer

i tried that, but the newer itunes will not download on my old computer

so now i am stuck with a new ipod with 500 songs on it, and an old version of itunes, i'm worried that i will not be able to add anymore songs onto my ipod anymore!

i know i can somehow restore my ipod, but i don't know if that's what i should do and i don't want to lose the songs on my ipod.

any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Update:

i did try to download it manually, but it says that my computer needs a windows xp service pack, which i wasn't able to download either

Try rebooting your computer then install the service pack and it will probably tell you to reboot it again then if it installed the service pack then go to itunes and download it or open it if you saved the downloaded file and hopefully that will work for you. a lot of times when there are problems with installing or computer acts funny, all you need is a reboot.

you may attempt this get carry of LIMEWIRE 6.0 and additionally you gets carry of any music you like. Then basically drag those documents of music into Itune library then basically get carry of. yet confirm which you do DELETE each and every of the music which you get carry of by skill of reality they might have a virus AND SUCH. And by skill of downloading Limewire 6.0 it reduces your opportunities of having any hackers on your laptop. I used Limewire each and every of the time an now no longer some thing ever went incorrect. And this is likewise loose too.

get a new hard drive, or even better a new computer. i'm saying this because the computers hard drives are now really small, like the size of a disc holder (one that holds like 60 disks). i saw pictures of it on dell.com i think.... good luck with that though.

instead of trying to have itunes download it for you try to do it manually @ http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
