Two bright stars above Hong Kong tonight? Planets? Anyone?
There are two very bright stars hanging in the sky above Hong Kong (unusual, bacause you don't really see stars here) I'm presuming they must be planets. Venus and Jupiter? they're in the south, fairly low in the sky, one above the other (the lower is very bright indeed)
I've had a look at the HK Observatory Star Map, but i can't make head nor tail of it. Anyone know?
Thanks for all the answers guys. Very much appreciated :)

What you are seeing is a very bright star to the left of the sun set... The brightest and highest one is Jupiter and the lower one is Saturn... This is their time to show when the sun sets more in the Southwest then in the West... Usually can be seen right as sunset is happening which would be around 5:15 p.m.. for day light savings...
So, that is what you are seeing...
Hope that helps...

Yes. Planets. Venus and Jupiter. Venus is the brighter one and closer to the horizon, and possibly ever so slightly a little bit west of Jupiter. Check them out again in a couple of nights, when they are a little closer together and the crescent moon joins that part of the sky! (Nov. 30-Dec. 1)
