how to identify a chevy in line 6 by the id number?

I have a 1972 chevy in line 6 cylinder that is suposta be a 250 cubic inch. Would like to know for sure

    Write down the V.I.N. (vehicle identification number) take that to your local auto parts store and they should be able to tell just about anything you need to know (unless there has been a engine swap)

    yes 6 cylinder is 250 cubic in displacement and your firing order is 1 5 3 6 2 4 this would be for in line 6 cylinder you will have to look up your code in the American car numbers i d book by cars and parts magazine
