How do I get his attention?

There is a co-worker I really like. I can't stop thinking about him, no matter how hard I try to distract myself. He knows I like him but has never said he's not interested. None of my co-workers can figure him out. He smiles and jokes around with me a lot. He tells me I'm very amusing. I really want a chance to get more one-on-one time with him but have no clue how to do it. He's quiet and shy and I believe being forward with him would scare him away, even if he really likes me. Our mutual friends say we'd be perfect together; some of them have known him for years and years. I know he wants a girlfriend too; he has told me outright that he is looking for miss right. I'm not usually one who gets focused on something for very long so this is starting to drive me batty. Any ideas?
