I'm stationed here at ft. benning and went to basic training here. You won't see much of the base in basic. The only days you get to go explore the base are family and graduation days. Stay off Victory drive b/c it's hella ghetto. Columbus is a nasty city.....i wouldn't recommend ft benning to anyone.

I was there for USAR Annual Training. Its the home of the Airborne School and Infantry School. Very hot and humid in the summer. Nice base.

I agree, Columbus is a **** hole. Ft Benning is 'okay' at best. You're going to be on Sand Hill, basic is a piece of cake. I wouldn't suggest putting GA as one of your top 3 choices though :)

My kids lived there during training. They loved Columbus, GA. Nice place to visit. Fort was really nice and well-kept.
