what kinda of swim wear would suit a hourglass figure?

i am about a size 12, but i am very definitely a hourglass figure, i would like to know what kind of swim wear would suit my figure. i currently have a one piece halter neck in black however it doesn't show of my tiny waist at all. i am thinking i might try a bikini also?

Update:

so Diana, just because we live in a world where size 0 is considered small, at one point super models were size 8-10! el macpherson is friggin size 16! Australian size!

lol...i know this answer because i usually fluctuate from a size 8-10 to a size 12 (usually im at a size 8 for summer though, but i tend to buy swimwear all year round when i need a new one) when i drop activity levels. I am an hourglass figure. and i can say these swim suits would work for me so id assume they would work for you too lol...being on the slightly larger end of the spectrum, u dont wait it to be too stringy. more proportional to your body in widths of the straps, ties and bottom length...if you want a one piece, you want one that chinches in at the waist or rouches, particularly around the smallest area of ur waist. you want a v neck, sweetheart neck or a low scoop neck and wider straps for your suit like this...

you can do a two piece contrary to what you have been taught...you just have to have the bottom and top be proportional to ur body size.

such as this, see how it has a wider band on the hip area? this will camoflage and even out what the smaller bikinis do usually...where they cut off at the wrong area. I a big fan of la blanca swim wear, they fit wonderfully for those that have hips and a slightly larger bum and a bigger chest as well as kenneth cole...also supprisingly so does juicy couture has great fits for those that have fuller hourglass figures.

ideally u want halter if u have a larger chest that needs support. and yeah find away...just remember, wider bands on the hip to be proportionate to ur body size, slightly thinker straps on the top and for one pieces or tankinis u want something that cinches in or rouches at the waist...ur neckline depends on ur chest size...but again sweetheart, low scoop and v necks.

hunny, if ur active and u do stay fit, there is nothing wrong with ur size 12...its just the size u are naturally with out altering to extremes or changing to something that isnt concidered a healthy fluctuation...diets will only crash ur metab if u yoyo, so ur best bet is always staying active to boost everything in a good way.

oh yeah u can do ties on a bikini, just make sure its not a low waister and the ties are thick in fabric.

Source(s): years and years of trying on every stule of swimwear out there and paying attnetion to body fit suggestions...one last thing, u can do patterns, just make sure the pattern isnt too small or too big, proportional to ur body...remember.

With your light complection and light hair color, i would not get that color suit. it screams AHHHH! when colors of the same family colide it is just a mess. for you, a light blue would do the trick or a navy. I wouldn't get stripes across because it is a proven fact that stripes going side to side make your body look longer, or fat. Polka Dots or just a simple solid would suit you just fine. you could also try an up and down stripe, making you look longer/taller, if you are short.
