Is it possible to run the slipring motor as a synchronous motor?
B cos both are wound rotor induction motors

Good Question. There is such a motor, but it's apparently different than the ones you discribe. there is a patent for these, "fractional HP motors, and I'm not sure of the engineering involved to use wound rotor, constant speed, as synchronous motors.
