Mary Kay vs Mac foundation, which one is better for an African American with hyper pigmentation and blemishes?
I have a medium complexion with really dark blemishes. I want to buy a new foundation and maybe a concealer if necessary that gives me an even complexion and looks like real African-American skin (I don't want anything that makes me look ashy or too red). I've tried Clinque, it matched my complexion but didn't cover my blemishes; Sheer Cover gave me an ashy hue and didn't cover my blemishes and Cover FX from Sephora--coverage is good, but it's greasy, comes off easily and looks cakey by noon. So please HELP!

I suggest Mary Kay because you can get matched by your consultant and you can try multiple colors if you need to. Plus, if the color you buy doesn't work you can just call her up and exchange it for one that does match and no cost to you or her. I used to use cover girl but it never really matched and it was too thick. Now, I used MK Medium coverage and its perfect. There are quite a few formulas to choose from so you can be sure to find the right color and formula. Plus, she'll help you do that. If you don't have a consultant just go to www.marykay.com and type in your zip code, you'll be given the name and info for an active consultant.
And it's $14, not sure how much MAC is.

I've never tried Mac, but I'm not a fan of liquid makeup anyway. I use the new Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation and just love it. I like very sheer coverage. You might want to consider using an Oil Mattifier and Beauty Blotters as well as Oil Control Lotion from Mary Kay. They're all great products. Good luck with your decision!

Mac is better between the two. Mac is just a good product overall. However when it comes to blemishes, Bare Essentials works really well too. Several little cosmetic stores sell it so you don't have to buy it off TV and they usually have samples you can try. Mac does too.

mac can be for really good, high coverage.
it's really hard to match dark skin tones. since you are going to buy an expensive foundations, i would schedule a consultation with a MAC consultant to pick out somethign that will be really good for ur complexion.
as always, don't forget to use a primer before you apply foundation
