A.in vigorous exercise, enzymes are unable to keep up with the reaction.

The answer is of course C. You need to understand the metabolism of Glucose first. Glucose enters first into a glycolytic pathway. In this pathway, glucose first gets converted to Glucose-1-phosphate and then undergoes series of reactions to enter Lactic acid. In case of oxidative pathway ( when plenty of Oxygen available), it gets converted to pyruvic acid which enters Tri Carboxylic acid cycle which converts it ultimately to carbon di oxide and water. If you vigorously workout, oxygen being insufficient, lactic acid accumulates. Of course, thereafter fatigue sets in and you cannot go on.
