can the microsoft office files be run on mac without installing office ?

i am talking about the files like Word files, Powerpoint presentations, Access databases, Excel sheets

Can they be run without installing Office?

    Yes,you can view them without installing office. You just right click and select open with pages, numbers or keynote. It will open and then you can save them in Pages too or export to PDF. its pretty simple. But you must have iWork. If you dont have iWork then you can download openoffice or neooffice for free.

    But if you mostly work with MS office its advisable to get MS-Office for MAC.

    You would need a converter to open the files ! Maybe something like Microsoft's XML File Format Converter for Mac or you cold a free online such as http://www.docx2doc.com./

    If you have iWork, open office of neo office you can open them as well !
