The man only stayed long enough to drink the punch before leaving. The remaining party goers also drank the punch which was fine and had nothing to do with the deaths -- the people died of FOOD poisoning (again, the man did not EAT - only DRANK!).

The poison in the punch came from the ice cubes. When the man drank the punch, the ice was fully frozen. Gradually it melted, poisoning the punch.

The poison was in the food. The man only drank the punch and left.

i'd say all the above ice cubes have been poisoned punch poisoned after he left he poisoned the punch yet I easily have a extra advantageous answer- He became into superman - proof against stupid poisons and he does not stay to party, quite while he has somebody to keep!

the people were drunk and dancing thinking they 'drank' the punch but really drank everyone else punches so they choked on the fists?

...the poison was in the ice, since he left first, the ice didn't get a chance to melt, but since everyone else stayed later, their ice melted in the drink and they all died!
