Why is it that no one likes?

That no one likes the end pieces of a loaf of bread, but everyone likes a bun?

    I agree with ciao baby.

It is the uniformity factor especially if you are making a sandwich one of the pieces is going to be smaller and thinner.

If you are making toast with the end it is smaller - falls way down in the toaster and the thinner edges burn.

If you are making your sandwich on a bun - generally the whole thing is thick everywhere.

If I have to make a sandwich with the end I turn the crust inside so both outsides are soft and white to bite into.

Nutty I know - now lets talk about why we have to line up the bumps and curves in the bread.

And then we can talk about toast sweat.

I really don't like buns either. If there's nothing else left in the loaf, I'll eat the ends, but I prefer not to.

Some do. My mother made all of her own bread and she prefers the end pieces. I like less crust and more of the soft inside so at home, we kind of take turns who gets the end now.

the end pieces are thinner than a regular slice.

and like ciao baby said,.... the whole uniformity thing

nothing worse than eating a jacked up sandwich.....

and besides that, the "heel" of the bread is chewier.

think of eating a sandwich with all your favorite coldcuts, ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and as thick as it is, you have to put that small AZZ end of the bread on top....

THAT IS A JACKED UP SANDWICH, DOSENT EVEN FIT!!!

As a kid I never ate it, as an adult the whole loaf is fair game. In fact I eat more loaves than I care to admit. LOL.....

Source(s): Lynnie, lol, I have to admit. When I make a sandwich the bread must line up. Sometimes I kinda get a little upset if I don't toast it lined up. LOL, so that way the inside is usually a little darker. Ah.....bread. LOL

i like it as toast. its not as thick as a regular slice of bread.

people generally like uniformity. the fact that the end piece is not as thick or uniform as a regular slice stands to no good reason that it doesnt taste the same. we as humans in this wonderous world have become spoiled by the riches of perfection

but i like the end pieces...
