why won't WMV HD files work o my Vista laptop but work on my XP desktop?

even when i changed the format to .VOB and burnt it to a DVDR it still didn't work so i played it in our main DVD player and the same thing happened as on my laptop it just keeps on glitching and doesn't play smoothly so i played it on our other DVD player and it played perfectly. they are the same brand as well why is this happening?

Update:

i used windows media player, cyberlink power DVD and power to go( cyberlink) i also tried other file types for my DVD player

Well as far as your computer is concerned. Try playing the file on the VLC media player found at the link below. This video/audio player works wonders when others wont do a think. Also on whatever player you are currently using you may not have the neccessary codec to play that file type. i.e. for DivX files you need the DivX codec etc. So try downloading the appropriate one. But I'd try VLC first and see what happens.

For your DVD player, it may be because of a similar issue, but nothing you can do about it except burn in a file type compatible. Being same brand does not mean it will play the same thing.

I found some information on the WMV HD and according to microsoft this technology was built around windows XP, that would explain why it works there; however it does not explain why it wont work on Vista.

See if the second link i left you helps you find any more helpful information.

you have fastened your broken tricky disk into an exterior case, appropriate? it is basically a permissions concern. you are able to take possession of the strain. sure, it is yours, however the permissions on the strain are defined as a different person's. while you are the administrator on the Vista laptop you: a million. Take possession of the driving force 2. reproduction the records you elect.
