Offshore Jobs for Felons?

Hi, I am hoping that someone can help me with this (I'm expecting judgmental comments which will be duly ignored)! I'm looking to work offshore on an oil rig doing pretty much whatever I would be qualified for, but I am concerned that my background would prevent me from doing so. Long story short: 2 years ago I was busted for possession of a controlled substance (yes, I'm a dumbass) and was on felony probation (deferred adjudication) for two years. I completed my probation in January 2008 and have "kept my nose clean" since. I've made major steps in turning my life around and I'm not wanting this to hold me back. Does anyone know if this would hinder me in getting an offshore job? Any positive advice, tips, leads would be helpful. Thanks!

NEVER EVER believe that you can't achieve whatever you set your mind to. I met an employee at a major company that served 12 years for manslaughter and he was one of their Favorite high Paid Employees.

Just be up front with the Job you apply for. Let them know how you are a changed person and only strive for success and leadership. They WILL hire you. Keep your head up and your character clean.
