Huevo's band of the day?
Despite the dysfunctionalism of founder Antone Newcombe and the fact that he makes the Gallagher brothers look like Mathama Gandhi and Mother Teresa with his selflessness, I absolutely love the sounds of the Brian Jonestown Massacre. A neo-psychedlic group out of San Francisco, their sound is influenced by both the UK shoegaze scene and the 60's psychedelic sound, they ar e probably best known for their relations with The Dandy Warhols as documented in the film Dig! and the fact that they got in a fight on stage before a group of music industry representatives that were looking to sign them to a major label. Needless to say, they are still recording on an indie. Take a listen to the clips and comment if you like.

I absolutely agree Radio Waves, the Warhols do absolutely for me. Just another overrated band.
Thanks Olive!

Neo-psychedelia is an interesting malleable genre.
I'm enjoying the sound.
A lot more than I enjoy most of the Dandy Warhols.
I've heard of these guys but was never really compelled to check them out because of that connection. The Warhols just don't do anything for me. They seem to have a lot of potential, but its not there for me.
That said, I like my neo-psychedelia with a little more experimentation.
Thanks for the links

I've heard of Brian Jonestown Massacre through "The Ballad of Jim Jones" but I never really checked them out until now. So far, I'm like them, especially "You Look Great When Im High"---I really liked that song..listened to it a few times and couldn't get enough of it, it's awesome. I think I will do some more exploring of this band as they have a kind of compelling uniqueness. I'm digging it, thanks for the links, I look forward to your next band of the day...you keep introducing great stuff!

a band that i never really got round to checking out for some reason, although their name kept cropping up in relation to lots of others i listen to.
i'm sure i must have listened to some along the way, but i just don't remember. and now i know why.
bland, uninspired, forgettable.
but keep up the good work - you hit the spot more than most

I really like them. I found them about a year ago. And the name...what a name.
