my dog is dragging his stomach on the floor?

My dog is dragging his stomach on the floor and when I approach him, he rolls over and wants his belly scratched. From previous experience with my dog I can tell he is in pain. Maybe something he ate? Ideas to try like Pepto-bismo?? Thanks for your help.

you can give him a teaspoon of pepto bismol. if he ate a bone it could of had splinters. pork bones are really really bad for that. if you think it could be that, take him to a vet asap cause the splinters will kill him. scratch his stomach and like pat it a little. maybe he has fleas?

Don't give him pepto-bismo! It's meant for humans and you don't know the dosage or what the reaction could be!! See if he has a rash, or if he throws it up within the next couple of hours. If not, call a vet. My dog likes to eat grass when she's not well to make herself sick - you could let him outside for a bit and see if that works, but I'd call a vet before too long: it could be serious.

the question is vague. what kind of dog is this? the mental vision i got is of a severely obese dog. if that's the case- diet man! diet! if not, my weimaraner army crawls on the floor all the time when he wants to play.

if it's been more than like three days i'd take him to the vet. if it's something he ate it would have worked it's way out by now. try rubbing his stomach? if it doesn't get better take him to the vet.

He might have eaten something, or it is just itchy. Poke his stomach and if it feels strange or he wines, you may want to take him to the vet.

My dog does that sometimes to. I think its just a way of scratching his belly by himself because he cant reach there.
