vision loss every time he coughs or blows his nose?

My son has a retinal dystrophy and has about two degrees of vision left. He has got a cold at the moment and every time he coughs or blows his nose, everything goes dark and his eyes ache. It returns to normal after a while, but thought this was a bit strange
