On the five-line staff for treble clef, notes on the lowest line represent E, and they go up from that in order, F is the lowest space, G is the next-lowest line, A is the next-lowest space, and B is the middle line of the staff.

The note immediately underneath all the lines is a D.

Underneath that, a note with a line through it is a C (also called Middle-c" on the keyboard).

You can find a nice visual representation of these notes and what they are called at http://datadragon.com/education/reading/clefs.shtm...

Notes will rest on the lines AND in the spaces between the lines.

There is a clef marking at the beginning of every line. If it is a treble clef (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treble_clef#The_trebl... then the lowest line would be E, the next space up is F, the next line is G, etc. If it is a bass clef (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treble_clef#The_bass_... then the bottom line is G, the space above it is A, then next line is B, etc.

Look at this page for a full list and diagrams.

The bottom line is an E, the space above is an F, the next line is a G, the next space is an A, etc.

A little thing I use to help: The spaces read, from the bottom to the top: FACE

    In the treble clef:

C is on the ledger line below the staff and two ledger lines above the staff.

D is on the fourth line of the staff.

E is on the bottom line of the staff.

F is on the top line of the staff.

G is on the second line of the staff.

A is two ledger lines below the staff or one ledger line above the staff.

B is on the middle line of the staff.

... good thing you didn't ask about the spaces (phew!)

That depends on what clef it is. Why don't you get a beginner book and work on that before you try to play a song?
