Where do I find the head numbers on a 351 engine.?
I'm trying to sell the engine and someone asked what the head numbers where. Why is that so important for them to know?

The 351 Windsor ( 351W ) heads have their casting numbers under the intake ports so while on the block they will be facing the lifter valley. You'd need a small mirror to see them when still attached to the block. The actual block numbers are located where the starter bolts up. Those numbers are difficult to see with the starter in place.

W or C? on the Cleveland the 4 barrel head has a 4 on one corner and the 2 barrel has a 2 on one corner. Not sure about the W..
they are probably looking for the casting number, which tells them the year, some better than others..
starting with C5 is 65 and D5 is 75, a smog year..E5 would be 85
