It's best to go into the store where you can see what they have. Not everything is advertised

Check the weekly ads, Christmas, Spring Break, and just before school starts after summer vaccation are the best times to find deals on computers.

I can't really tell you where to shop - that really depends on your level of technical knowledge and what part of the country/world you live in. I *can* give you some good advice about buying (since I'm in the business) - get the computer with the best CPU you can afford. My dad once told me "Buy the best tool you can afford at the time, even if you only need it for a few mintues. In the long run, it will pay for itself." When buy a computer this means get the best processor (cpu) you can get. If you are looking to buy a laptop, then get the best cpu and video chip you can afford. (Desktops can be upgraded with a video card, so video isn't as important for them.)
