Its not about trust - they are legally obliged to provide you with a contract after three months of employment. A company that chooses not to give contracty and in effect break the law is not a good company to work for.

You don't always get a contract with your employment.
If you have an issue with your employer, contact ACAS, the government body to settle these issues

your employer has a legal duty to supply you with a contract of employment after your trial period usally 3 months
