which brand of external hard disk is best?

can somebody give me the best brand coz im planning to buy one.. thank u.. and y did u say that it is the best?

Hey!

Western Digital is the best hard drive manufacturer around.  I've bought many drives from them and they all work great.  There the top sellers on many sites such as www.newegg.com or www.amazon.com.

Brand is not important - they are external devices, connected through USB so rotation speed is also not an issue. 
I would just go for the biggest you can afford - in this case... Size IS important !

ok the is no "definite" best but there leaders are Seagate and Western Digital. but i have heard a few stories of western digital HDD's dieing after a short period of time.
