Rattling in Bucks in Bama?

In northern alabama has anyone ever had any luck anytime of the hunting season with rattling and blowing a grunt to call in a buck?

One of my friends was hunting with his dad on my land in Bedford County, Virginia and one the first morning a doe came toward where he was rattling and grunting and his dad shot it, The next morning an 8 point buck came to see what the rattling and grunting was all about and my friend shot it. He has been using the rattling antlers for about 3 years and they work. Whitetails are pretty much the same everywhere, so what works here in Virginia should work in Alabama. The key seems to be using them when does might be in heat.

He is right. Time of year is the most important part of rattling I think. I've tried rattling early in the season with little to no success, but during the rut it works and the bucks come looking to see whats going on. I generally have a good bit of success with grunting or bleat calls all times of the year. On opening day this year I killed a 6 point that was apparently laying down in the field in front of me the whole time. I used a Primos Can call doe bleat one time at around 4:30 just due to boredom and as soon as I turned that can over he stood up in some sage grass and started looking around and grunting back. My location is central and Northern Mississippi. So you should have the same rut patterns as us. I also began using a moon phase calender this year and so far I have seen many more deer, but I am in the woods more and at really odd hours. Many times I go in to the woods at 10 and hunt until around 2.
