how much should elected officials get paid?
Here's my idea.
I think that our elected officials should get paid as much as an average american worker gets paid, and here's why:
They claim to be a "representing the people," and lately they hav'nt been doing so well (ex. governor rod blagovich)
So i think that elected officials should get paid as much as the average worker, lets say around 50 grand a year, plus health insurance
After all, they make plenty of money through bribes anyways (ex. governors rod blagoivetich, and george ryan who sold liscenses, and is now sitting in prison)
This way we'll kow that only people who are really devoted to serving our country will run for election.
And its not as though they do so much more work than the average person either, which makes their salaries sort of unfair

You bring up an excellent point...
I agree 100 percent. If elected officials only got opaid as much as the average american worker \,
1) they can relate to us
2) We would be sure that they would'nt be running for greedy purposes, and that they are really devoted

They should be paid the Federally mandated minimum wage. Their benefits should be eliminated. The state which they claim to represent should pick up the tab for their salary. They should all be limited to 2 terms.

Free. These guys are all ready millionaires. The average joe cannot run anymore. There should no campaign financing either, do everything for free on the internet, NPR (public radio) and PBS.

States could desire to be mandated to diminish classes and positions at an equivalent % to losses contained in the own sector. i think State workers could desire to be paid as quickly as quarterly (a great savings in itself!) and each quarter there could desire to be an adjustment to pay and retirement tests equivalent to features or losses contained in the own sector.
