You could waste a month on Fallout 3, and Bethesda's previous game Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion is supposedly even more time consuming.

Sims is a cheap alternative but I get bored quick.
You could buy like tomb raider underworld for the PC or some other fun little games.
Maybe you;d be interested in character created? something like poser-it's quite expensive and you could make CG animations.
