If a kid refuses to sleep during nap time, are they guilty of resisting a rest?

when i was a kid and when nap time came along i wasn't even close to tired. i lay there and read quietly, which was more than enough of a rest for me. maybe the child is ahead of his/her classmates and doesn't need a nap.

Maybe they needed some TLC from Mommy Dearest.
