we are planning to divide 2 nights between puntarenas and "montezuma".?

How should we divide it i.e. just the day in puntarenas and head to montezuma to sleep and also stay there the next night or spend first night in puntarenas itself. Any suggested places to stay and things to do there? Thanks in advance.

Update:

Also is it worth to go to Corcovado National Park. Something different there, its quite out of the way, therefore debating on going there or not.

2 nights is not really enough time for any part of Costa Rica but if you want to rush through places I´d spend a night in each place.

Puntarenas used to be the most popular place to go back when there were not that many tourists, then it kind of was abandoned for a few years and started to seem runned down, now the city has been putting more effort in fixing it up more and attracting tourism so it is slowly becoming popular again.

Montezuma is also a nice area but more of a hippy town, not much to do except maybe do except a canopy tour or a Tortuga island tour which are both very good day tours.

Montezuma has gotten a bad reputation for attracting potheads and similar tourists.

Definitely go on to Montezuma. Puntarenas has improved, but there is little to do there, some areas are unsafe at night and it is unbearably hot and humid. The new aquarium might be worth a visit. I can't comment on places to stay. Corcovado is wonderful-- if you have the time. It requires at least 3 days to get the benefit of the place and it is hard to get to.
